Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to supporters for his response when replaced in Sunday's heated Clasico clash victory.

Vinicius was substituted in the 72nd min and expressed his annoyance by walking immediately off the pitch.

The Brazilian later returned to the bench and, after his side's 2-1 victory, sought to engage Barça's Lamine Yamal during unpleasant after the game exchanges.

"Today I want to express regret to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was replaced in the derby," Vinicius wrote on X.

"Just as I have said in person during today's practice, I wish to say sorry once more to my colleagues, the club, and the leadership.

"At times fervor takes over me because I continuously aim to win and assist my side. My winning mentality originates in the passion I feel for this team and everything it represents."

The player joined Real from Flamengo in recent years for a significant fee and has accumulated over a century of strikes in more than 300 games.

But his career in the Madrid is far from certain with speculation in the past few months stating that Los Blancos would contemplate allowing the player depart if they obtained a suitable offer.

When Vinicius was substituted on the match day, cameras from broadcaster Dazn recorded him stating: "Again me! I'm leaving the team! It's preferable if I leave, I'm moving on."

In his latest post on social media, Vinicius commented: "I commit to keep striving at all times for the good of the club, as I have performed since the initial arrival."
