The Top Local Multiplayer Release You Have Probably Not Tried Arrives to Switch
Wizard of Legend II, a roguelike quest featuring sorcerers attempting to become mythical figures, makes its debut to Nintendo Switch later this month. It'll be playable November 25, providing enthusiasts of couch co-op titles a second chance to discover one among the year's most impressive releases in the genre.
A Rocky Beginning
Wizard of Legend 2 has followed the trajectory of numerous lesser-known games. The developer released it in early access in the fall of 2024 on PC platforms, prior to launching it fully, alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X editions, in the summer of 2025. At launch, it got absolutely slammed. Merely less than a third of its user reviews were positive. The Steam reviews are "mixed", based on nearly a couple thousand assessments, with a lot of players critiquing the general lack of polish and abundance of technical issues upon release. Those on consoles further lambasted that the co-op feature, a huge selling point for the game, was largely non-functional.
Steady Enhancements
Yet similar to several beta releases that launch in rough states, Wizard of Legend 2 has gotten better. Over the past few months, its developers have deployed a series of patches designed to fix these issues. After playing The Wizard of Legend Sequel more than any latest game in the current year, I can confidently say it's a bit more functional relative to at launch (on console, at least). It has achieved the level where most of the time, one can successfully start a cooperative run to operate. Pretty good!
If It Works, It Excels
And when The Wizard of Legend Sequel operates, it performs excellently. With a top-down angle, you fight through element-based dungeons by using magic in action-oriented mechanics. Plenty of sprinting, lots of dodging, a great deal of handling spell delays. It's incredibly rapid and endlessly creative; when you mix and match your magical attacks with a friend's, you can create highly effective pairings.
Nintendo Switch Version Details
Although the Nintendo Switch edition is yet to be thoroughly evaluated, one should consider the very demanding quality standards for Switch games. The developer confirmed in a news release that the Nintendo release of Wizard of Legend II includes all updates that have been applied in the current year.
