BF6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four classes of assignments, but where most only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Some of these locked weapons might eventually earn a place on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

A different forum member pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

But when doing the challenges in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these strenuous in-game tasks, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
