Another Four Apprehensions Executed in Relation to Louvre Precious Gems Heist

Another four individuals were taken into custody within the framework of the active inquiry into the previous heist of valuable gems at the Louvre Museum, as stated by the Paris prosecutor's office.

Particulars of the Newest Apprehensions

A pair of males, aged 38 and 39, and two women, aged 31 and 40, faced apprehension earlier this week. Each hails from the greater Paris area.

Included in this group is believed to be the final member of a group of four that reportedly executed the broad-daylight robbery, per media sources in France. The additional three suspected thieves have already been arrested and charged, authorities state.

Law enforcement has been granted up to 96 hours to interrogate the suspects. No trace has yet been uncovered of the taken jewelry - valued at eighty-eight million euros - which were stolen on October 19th.

Previous Accusations and Disavowals

Four individuals have already been charged over the heist - three male and one female suspects, who are likewise residents of the Parisian area.

A 38-year-old woman was charged earlier this month with involvement in organized robbery and conspiracy to commit crimes with a view to committing a crime.

In a distinct case, a 37-year-old male, was indicted for theft and criminal conspiracy.

These two suspects, who have not been named publicly, have denied any involvement.

The Way the Theft Was Carried Out

The robbery occurred when the quartet of male perpetrators used a stolen vehicle-mounted mechanical lift to enter the Apollo Gallery via a balcony near the Seine River.

The perpetrators employed a cutting disc to crack open exhibition cases containing the jewelry.

The thieves were inside for a mere four minutes and executed their getaway on two scooters positioned externally at 09:38 in the morning, before switching to cars.

A single pilfered object - a royal crown - was lost during the getaway but eight additional pieces of precious ornaments - featuring an emerald and diamond necklace that Emperor Napoleon presented to his second spouse, the Empress Marie-Louise - were taken.

Protective Shortcomings and Aftermath

It has been stated that the heist was carried out by small-time offenders instead of sophisticated criminal organizations.

In the immediate aftermath of the heist, it was revealed by the Louvre's director that the sole surveillance camera monitoring the Galerie d'Apollon was facing opposite the terrace used by the perpetrators to commit the burglary.

The president of the Louvre has later confessed that the museum had failed in its obligations, but denied that security had been overlooked - saying that from the beginning of her tenure in the year 2021 she had been warning constantly of the necessity of increased funding.

Strengthened Safeguarding Protocols

Following the event, protective protocols have been enhanced at France's cultural institutions.

The Louvre has transferred some of its most precious jewels to the national bank in the aftermath of the robbery.
